Cari Michaels began her work with the Children, Youth & Family Consortium in 2005 and has focused much of her work on children’s mental health. Cari has particular interest in children’s mental health as a public health issue and works with experts in her field — including educators, clinicians, medical professionals, social service providers and public health professionals — to draw theoretical and practical connections among children’s mental health, physical health and nutrition, and general child wellness. Cari also collaborates with research and community professionals to create research documents, educational events, online learning tools and learning networks. She is the creator and editor of the Children’s Mental Health eReview. She has experience developing curricula for college courses, as well as workshops and other types of training for professionals, students and community groups. In addition, Cari has taught college courses in child abuse and community violence prevention, and she has worked with families and children in crisis, as well as community organizing.
