Joe’s research focuses primarily on those with moderate and severe developmental disabilities and children with more severe Autism Spectrum Disorders. His areas of interest include establishing communication alternatives to challenging behavior, using augmentative communication to improve speech and learning, and identifying strategies that help parents, teachers and interventionist aids support children with ASD. In addition to his research, Joe is also co-editor of a book series on Augmentative and Alternative Communication with Dr. David Beukelman.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
